Privacy policy
Draft. This policy must be reviewed before ads or the newsletter launch. It is not legal advice.
LobbyBuzz is operated by Wave Labs LLC (“we”). This policy explains what we collect when you visit lobbybuzz.com.
What we collect
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people find us. It uses cookies and collects data such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser. We don’t use it to identify you personally. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland get no analytics cookies unless they consent; Google receives only cookieless, aggregate signals.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is stored by our newsletter provider (beehiiv) so we can send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email.
- Emails you send us are kept so we can respond and follow up on tips.
- Site preferences (for example, which version of a page layout you see) may be stored in your browser’s local storage. They contain no personal information.
Advertising
LobbyBuzz may show ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are labeled “Advertisement”. We don’t place ads on our policy pages or on articles about crime, health or relationships.
- Cookies and identifiers. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure ads and prevent fraud.
- Google’s ad cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google’s Ad Settings, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info. You’ll still see ads, but they’ll be less relevant to you.
Affiliate links
Some articles link to retailers, such as Amazon and Logitech, through affiliate programs. If you click one of those links, the retailer or its affiliate network (for example, Impact) may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser to record that you came from LobbyBuzz, so we can be paid a commission if you buy. They handle that data under their own privacy policies. We get reports of clicks and sales from them, never your name or contact details. More in our standards.
Privacy and cookie settings
How we ask for consent depends on where you are.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland. We ask for your consent with Google’s consent message, a Google-certified consent tool, before analytics or advertising cookies are set. Until you choose, and if you decline, those cookies aren’t set; Google may still receive basic signals without cookies, such as that a page loaded, for aggregate measurement. To change your choice, use the Privacy and cookie settings link at the bottom of any page.
- US states with privacy laws (such as California): Google’s message gives you a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link to opt out of your data being used for targeted ads.
- Anywhere. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Ads and the site keep working without them.
A cookie stores your consent choice so we don’t ask again on every page.
Sharing
We don’t sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers above, and when required by law.
